COACHES, FLASH 2022-2023

Theresa Esparrago Lieu

Theresa Esparrago Lieu grew up in Albany, CA and started playing volleyball in 7th grade at Albany Middle School. At Albany High, Theresa and the Cougars won multiple league and NCS first place titles, and in her senior year (as team captain and MVP), she helped lead the Cougars to the CIF NorCal finals - one game short of the state finals. Theresa enjoys working with middle school players and hopes to pass on her love for the sport. Outside of volleyball, Theresa works in philanthropy supporting efforts to make higher education more equitable and accessible for California’s students.

Lisa Ferrier

Lisa fell in love with volleyball as a freshman in high school at the College Preparatory School in Oakland. In her sophomore year, her team won the NorCal title and went on to the state championship match. In her senior year as team captain, Lisa led her team to win the league championship. Lisa went on to play college club volleyball while at the University of Washington and adult leagues after graduating. As a young person on the volleyball court, Lisa learned incredibly important life skills and values from the sport, from her coaches, and from her teammates. Her goal as a coach with ABV is to foster that type of personal growth in her players. Off the court, Lisa is a designer and project manager, working for a leading global architectural firm.
